My flesh says Yes...My spirit says No

I know most of you have heard about the movie Soul Surfer. Based on the inspiring true story of the shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton.

Ever since I heard about this film I knew I wanted to see it. Recently, I read some blogs and peoples views on this movie saying the story itself is good, but the clothing and attitudes aren't. The film takes place on the beach so therefore, clothing is an issue. You see bikinis, bikinis and more bikinis. For basically two hours you are looking at half naked people. I know as Christians we are called to cover ourselves and dress modestly. My question is if we Christians wonna be set apart from the world and say dress modestly would go and sit in front and watch half naked people. Then we are no different from the world we are actually encouraging dressing immodestly.
So after think and pondering on this movie whether to go see it or not... I fought against my flesh and said No! I will not go see a movie that encourages immodesty.

I would love to hear y'alls thoughts on this, comment me back and tell me.

My family and I took my best friend and went to see this movie as well! It had a really good message and I LOVED learning about Bethany Hamilton and her story (even though I had already read about it prior to seeing the movie)!! Even though we really enjoyed the movie, the immodesty was an issue for us as well. :/

Love,

My soul surfs through your posts because I haven't been here for a while. I look at Soul Surfer and I stop.

Wanna see it so bad.

Good writings.

I agree. As a Christians we have to weigh all the facts. We as Christians may not all agree on the same convictions. But when the Bible clearly speaks on a subject we must obey. At the same time there are subjects where the Bible is silent, but the Spirit of God speaks and tell you if it is wrong.

Follow you convictions.

God Bless

Hi Rose,
Thank you for your comments. I am 13 and I don't know if I will go and see the movie. We too are christians and don't wear bikinis, but, I would like to see the movie because I would love how it is. I won't bye the movie if our family does not aprove of this movie. But I have heard that the message in the movie is very good. I have heard good and bad things about the movie. One thought I had as I was reading your post, was that, why do you LOVE the movie Avatar, but won't see this movie. We don't like the Avatar movie. I was just curious about that. Well, thank you for the post. *Rebekah*
